20: 1-Secret PRE BETA POSTED

This is my second world 1 level, and the only one I will be showing off here, because the others are pretty much done.

The beggining of the level will be a slow-auto scroll segment, then a non-autoscroll segment, since Henix didn't like the idea of a long slow auto scroll level;he claims they get tedious(and I sorta agree).

The beggining of the level. a hopping flame, and a piped lakitu. nothing too difficult

A spike in the left, and the pretty-much-unused jumping fish sprite. it doesnt need water, but waters there so it looks good.

First yoshi coin. Yoshi coins are in the open, but harder to reach. In this image, you have to get to coin and run before the spiny gets ya.

Second yoshi coin. its below a fish in hovering water, but not all too difficult to aviod.

Last screenshot, and is the beggining of the non-auto scroll segment. It involves plaforming(duh)

Well this is the pre-beta zip folder. there are many issues, but this is the base of the level. comments?

OK, the first thing that I'd like to point out is that there are no coins or powerups, which there should be. The level desgin seems solid in general, but here are a few issues:


The jumping fish has glitched GFX. I'm sure you noticed this, but I still wanted to point it out.


Very minor, but the placement of this jumping flame (at Screen 03) will cheap shot you if you jump on the koopa and land on the edge. This wouldn't matter too much in later worlds, but since it is W1, maybe you could move it back a little?


Although you can't see it here, there is a Goomba waiting to kill Mario behind the tree at the right side of Screen 04. Seriously, not cool man. (Funny as hell though =D)

Hmm... IDK about the jumping fish.

Any comments on the non-autoscroll portion?

and is the level too long, short, easy, etc....?

Oh, I like the level itself a lot. Pretty short, but that is OK for W1. I like the solid leaves on the bottom for the non-autoscrolling part. One MAJOR bug that I forgot for some reason is that where the weird water is, the bottom tiles are solid, not water.

Mine goes from 8:00 to 2:30, and wednesday it goes from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. THAT's bullcrap.

Anyways the level is looking nice. It has very few problems now.
